Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and businesswoman. She is the co-founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global, as well being the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is a journalist and television host, as well as philanthropist as well as the owner and publisher of The Huffington Post. Originally from Greece Arianna Huffington emigrated to England together with her family around the age of 16. While at Cambridge University she earned a MA degree in Economics. As the first non-English speaking student to graduate, she was elected president of The Cambridge Union' at age 21. Following after her college graduation, she became a well-known right-wing syndicated reporter. After a few years later she created The Huffington Post which featured critical commentary on the current political landscape. Her fame and popularity helped in getting several high-profile contributors to post their views about news from the world of politics and culture. Arianna's fame started in 2003, after she was a candidate for an independent for the California recall vote to replace Governor Davis. Arianna was also part of an initiative in Detroit that promoted fuel-efficient automobiles. Forbes placed her at 12 on its top 10 list of Most influential women in the media. Guardian also included the Huffington Post on their Top 100 list in the year 2010. AOL purchased The Huffington Post from AOL in 2011. In 2012, she became the President of the AOL media group. The group included several AOL-owned properties, such as Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. Elli is the child of Konstantinos who was a journalist and management consultant. Her life was shaped by the closeness she had to her mother and her bond with her father despite her being very close to him. From her early years, she demonstrated leadership skills that remain highly respected. When she moved to England, she was 16 to continue her education and then enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. In the years of her university she joined the Cambridge Union debating group where she became the first woman president, and also the only foreign president. Her graduation was in 1972 and she earned the degree of Master's in Economics. After graduation, she began working as a columnist critic and as a host on television. The appearance she made in Face the music with Bernard Levin was a notable one. She started writing books, taking his help for editing.
